Conpot Concrete Votive

Inspired by the ancient Greek tradition of offering a votive, a modest but precious decorative object, we have created a contemporary interpretation. Traditionally votives were cast from bronze, then a precious material.

Our votives are a functional reinterpretation, using carefully sourced stone to create delicate concrete forms. Votives are an offering of light for a moment of reflection. For us, lighting candles signifies the end of the day, a time to eat and share.

The Votive is hand-cast in our Peckham studio and is available in 6 colourways:

Classic Grey – Limestone, sourced in Derbyshire, set in grey Portland cement. The pastel grey votives are polished to reveal multi tonal grey flecks.

Black Basalt – Made from Black Basalt sourced in Shropshire; the planters feature an inky black stone set in pigmented Portland cement. The matte surface of the Black Basalt votive shows subtle flecks within a charcoal colour.

White Marble – White marble sourced from Spain is set in white portland cement. The polished surface reveals delicate translucent white flecks.

White Marble with Coloured Flecks – This colourway features a complex mix of materials including: white marble, Scottish red granite, black basalt, limestone and kiln-dried flint set in a white Portland cement. The result is a white material dappled with multi coloured flecks.

Green Granite - Made using Welsh green granite, sourced from a quarry near the Brecon Beacons National Park. The polished surface reveals a rich green stone set in pigmented Portland cement.

Red Granite - Made using Scottish red granite, this colourway is our personal take on a traditional terracotta planter. These planters are polished to reveal tonal flecks of red granite in pigmented Portland cement.

Each votive is formed with our small Peckham studio using carefully sourced aggregates and the highest quality Portland cement. The votives undergo a four stage polishing process, which reveals the aggregate within, before being finished with a waterproof seal which lasts 10 years.

Each votive is made to order, resulting in distinct variations within each batch. Please note that as each votive is a one off exact height dimensions may vary.

Dimensions - H 6cm x W 6cm (accommodates standard tea light)

We recommend lighting the candles before placing them in the votive to avoid scorching the concrete.
